We have had our Mini w/ the CVT for a week now and it seems to hesitate off the start ....is this common in all CVTs or is there a fix for this.

Yes, mine is the same way. I can't stand it! Every day I have to drive on an expressway, and on the way home I have a stop sign where I turn into 5 o'clock traffic. Often times I wind up either waiting forever or cutting someone of because of the lack of responsiveness. I am currently trying to find a MINI rep that can address this issue accordingly.

 

I have a CVT and also have this problem. Its annoying at stop lights for sure.

 

It's taken me some practice but I've learned that there is a certain way to handle the breaks so it doesn't shudder as much. Also, when taking off from a light, it hesitates for a minute but makes up for it real quick! Once you've had your MINI for a few months, you will get accustomed to the transmission and it will be much easier to handle!

 

I bought my CVT Mini in June and it definitely has a "lag". I figured out that if I turn off the DSC and put the tranny in Sport mode, it helps a bit. I do wish they would come out with a fix for it.
