airbag light ?

Hello. I have a 03 mini. The airbag light has been on since I bought it. I assumed it was because the passenger dash and side airbag was missing. I bought some from another mini and haven't installed them. I'm kind of afraid they will blow once there installed because of the light being on. Since I'm trying to sell the car I figured I should fix its airbag issues. So I pulled the steering wheel bag just see if it was intact. It was, but behind it the ground strap wasn't where it should be. The airbag bolt wasn't going through it. So I repaired that and reattached the airbag. Also none of my steering wheel controls worked. So I guess my question is can the airbags blow once I install the two passenger ones and reconnect the battery. This car has a salvage brand on it from 2007. I have no history on the car other then a Carfax. Thanks for any help.

Airbags are a dangerous thing if its salvage and been monkeyed with ( sounds like it has, i would have a dealership look into the connection and tell you what it needs, build a list, then source it on you own. If its grounded wrong or hooked up wrong there is a chance, most of the time it will just throw a airbag light. I would make sure everything is hook up right first. The MINI dealership can read the airbag system and look for faults in the wiring, or missing wiring , its nothing to just slap together.

Thanks. I planned on installing the other bags. Then go from there. I have no Mini dealer near me.

Welcome,

Just the Seattle area, Northwest MINI and Seattle MINI. Might want to contact a local BMW shop that has worked on MINIs. Airbags are just one of things that its a safety thing.
