lock led not flashing

Hello Everyone,
I'm new here and have not seen a direct answer to this question. I have a 2003 cooper s with navigation. There is a light on the dash visible thru the windshield, not sure how to describe it. it does nothing. I have a lock and unlock buttons on the key . What do you all think?
Thank you.

It's actually a sunlight sensor for the air conditioning. You'll notice when you're in sunlight and it's hot out the fan will blow harder than when you're in the shade.

Not sure why it's red, though. I thought it was a light too. The only light is if you have an alarm system, there is a red light on I believe the wiper stalk.

The other one is on the wiper stalk , if you have the factory alarm.
