OEM Bluetooth Question

Ok I have the OEM bluetooth option in my 06 Checkmate edition and had a question about it. I have the little "remote" that is by the upper right corner of the radio head, and that works awesome. My question is about the fact that the R/T button and the phone button that both do not seem to do anything. I know the R/T button should change the display of the radio head from the radio to the phone display to go through the phone book and such. Also for the phone button which should go into the voice menu it does not do anything either. I can get the the voice command through the little remote bluetooth "remote". Just wondering if anything knows what may be causing this or what to check. Thanks

Yes as I said I can do the voice commands, I just have to reach across the radio and hit the call button on the little black "remote" by the upper right corner of the radio, then I can do the voice commands, but it would be nice if it worked from the steering wheel like it should. And the radio doesn't switch to the Phone display like it should when you press the R/T button when a phone is connected to the bluetooth.

See here about the OEM bluetooth features. I have the full kit, there is a full kit and simple kit. Which one do you have ?

Ok that may be the answer I was looking for because I have the same mini direction book shown with the 2nd kit on your website (it was factory installed I know that) but I also don't have an arm rest, which leads me to believe I have the kit that does not use the steering wheel buttons, just works through the remote. Does that sound correct ECS?

Welcome.

Two kits , one "Full Kit" with center armrest snap in base ( not adapter ) and Simple kit : No armrest port . Both have a key pad which was for MINI with steering wheel controls as a back up. When you hit the R/T on the full key pad or steering wheel control it pulls up the phone options and names, does not dial. For full kit. For the simple kit I don't think it pulls them up.

Does that make sense ?

You have this kit: http://motoringfile.com/howto/offici..._bluetooth.pdf. It is not integrated with the steering wheel buttons (that's why it has a separate remote controller).

A different kit with armrest connector does integrate with the steering wheel: http://motoringfile.com/howto/universal_handsfree.pdf

More accurately, it was installed by the dealer. MINI never offered a factory installed Bluetooth option for R50/R53, but they sold retrofit kits installed by the dealer.

Yep has the simple kit. And it was a dealer retrofit also. nice catch rkw

I have the full kit personally and it does more then the simple kit. So your R/t functions stopped working on the keypad catch-me.

Ok so the simple kit is not integrated into the steering wheel buttons even though I have them on my wheel. That makes more sense I was thinking I would have to chase down some crazy short or something in my dash, but it is just I have the simpler kit that does not have the ability to use the buttons on the wheel, it only can be controlled by the remote. That makes a lot more sense now on why it wouldn't do any thing with the R/T or phone button the steering wheel but the remote by the radio works fine.
