White lever in boot cubby

I was rooting around in the boot yesterday finding places to stash a bottle of coolant, just in case I need some while motoring. In the left rear cubby there is a white lever with a gas pump logo on it.The lever moves when you lock unlock the car.My guess is that this is to open the gas cap if the cap does not unlock for some reason, but when I tried to move it it seemed to take more pressure than I was willing to use.Maybe it only works if the latch does not unlock.Anyone know about this?

That is the release lever for the gas cap. It does take a bit of force to release it. Remember, though, if you are in the back looking inside the cubby, the lock is already open. Unless you try locking the car while back there, it will not move any further. It takes a bit more force than you'd expect because you are fighting the drive mechanism, which is always engaged.

Thanks,Greatbear:smile:With the hatch open I can lock the doors, and watch the lever move.Didn't want to force it,nice to know you can get it open if the locks don't open for some reason.
