Christmas Eve Update...

- GOT UP EARLY AND WORKED ON GETTING THE CLUTCH ALIGNED AND INSTALLED. IT WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD..

- INSTALLED THE NEW DIP STICK.. WOOO THAT WAS HARD..

- NEXT IS SOMETHING I HATE HATE HATE DOING
AXEL BOOTS.. JUST THE GREASE AND THE MESS IT MAKES. I DECIDED TO DO SOME OF IT AND WHILE I HAVE IT UP I WILL PAINT THE AXEL TO COVER THE RUST.. KRYLON MAXX IS AWESOME!!! STILL HAVE TO FINISH.. AS YOU CAN SEE THE GREASE GOES EVERY WHERE.. I GOT 3 ROLLS OF PAPER TOWELS TO CLEAN UP ALL OF IT..

- NOW TO THE TRANSMISSION.. I REALLY DIDNT LIKE THE NASTY COLOR OF THE TRANSMISSION SOOOOO.. i WASHED IT OFF AGAIN TAPED IT UP AND RATTLE CAN THE HELL OUTTA IT. ADDED COUPLE COATS OF VHT CLEAR COAT AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT LOOKED AMAZING...

- I DECIDED TO DO THE HEAT SHIELDS AS WELL IN THE SILVER COLOR. IT WILL HELP ME IN THE FUTURE TO TELL IF I HAVE ANY LEAKS. PLUS KEEP THE HEAT OFF OTHER THINGS IN THE ENGINE BAY.

- AT THIS POINT EVERYTHING WAS DRYING AND I NEEDED TO GET THE OLD REAR CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS OFF AND GET THOSE CLEANED UP TO INSTALL THE NEW ONES. THE FIRST ONE WAS CAKE.. ZIP TIE TO HOLD THE CLAP IN PLACE AND BOOM IT WAS OFF.. THE NEXT ONE NEEDED TO BE PRY'D OFF WITH COUPLE SCREW DRIVERS.. I GOT THEM OFF AND PAINTED THE TIPS TO STOP THE RUST AND IT SHOULD MAKE PUTTING THEM ON ALOT EASIER.

- FINALLY.. SINCE I WAS ON A ROLL I SAID " IM GOING TO GET THE OLD PULLEY OFF... I WAS CONFIDENT!!!!! CHEST HIGH.. BUT THE F#$%ING PULLEY WILL NOT COME OFF... I TRIED PB BLASTER.. WITH HEAT COMBINED WITH AN IMPACT WRENCH AND NOTHING.. IT BUDGED BUT THATS IT.. THATS WHERE I GOT PISSED AND DECIDED TO COME DRINK AND DO THIS UPDATE...

I feel you are having trouble with that pulleys as a 3 jaw is the wrong kind of puller for this type of pulley. You need a pulley puller / installer tool. You can get one at the auto parts store or harbor freight. I use a us general model 40749. This type of puller goes all the way around the flange. And you use 2 wrenches, or in my case the biggest wrench and a 2 foot ratchet. When you have to put the pulley back on it uses a piece that threads into the end of the shaft and a ball bearing and it presses the pulley back on. If you don't use this type of tool, you will destroy the puller or the shaft and it will never go back together.

Just realised the pulley puller does not work on your ripe of pulley. The one I suggested. I'm at a loss. My pulley had 3 threaded holes in it to bolt a puller to. Is there a possibility to drillers or use a threaded style puller and then go to a large plate of style and then a nut in 3 places. Something where you can really crank and get some tension on that sucker.

Yea that pulley doesnt have the 3 holes because its an earlier model R50... As for tools my last resort is a puller thats out of England that a company made. I saw some Youtube videos on it.. I personally think they used Locktite on the pulley...

Christmas Update....

FIRST OFF MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE !!!!

I GOT UP EARLY THIS MORNING AND WAS DETERMINED TO GET SOME THINGS DONE ON THE CAR TODAY. PLUS IT WAS CHRISTMAS AND EVERYTHING WAS QUIET..

- SOO FIRST ON THE LIST WAS TO GET THE TRANSMISSION IN.. WHILE PUTTING IN THE THROW OUT BEARING I NOTICED I NEEDED GREASE. WELL NOTHING WAS OPEN.. I FOUND A TRUCK STOP THAT WAS OPENED AND GOT A TUBE OF GREASE TO GET THE DAY STARTED. ONCE ALL THE POINTS WERE GREASED UP IT WAS TIME TO INSTALL THIS BAD BOY..

- AFTER INSTALLING THE TRANSMISSION I NEEDED TO GET THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT. I JACKED UP THE END OF THE TRANSMISSION BOLTED IT UP AND THAT WAS ALL SET AND READY TO GO.

- ONCE INSTALLED I GOT THE SHIFT LINKS INSTALLED AND THE CLUTCH SLAVE ORDEAL..

- ONCE I GOT THE ENGINE OFF OF THE JACK STANDS I WAS ABLE TO GET UNDER THE CAR AND GET THE STARTER BOLTED UP AND GET THE OIL FILTER HOUSING OFF AND CLEANED UP..

- TOOK THE OIL FILTER HOUSING OFF TO CLEAN THAT UP AND RATTLE CAN THAT UP AS WELL ... AFTER A GOOD SCRUBBING AND SOME PAINT IT LOOKED LIKE NEW

- GOT THE DRAIN PLUG SWAPPED OUT FOR AN OEM PLUG. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD AN AFTERMARKET DRAIN PLUG IN THERE.

- FINALLY I USED SOME BRAKE CLEANER ON THE BACK OF THE MOTOR WITH A WIRE BRUSH.. WIPED IT DOWN WITH A RAG AND LIKE THE REST... RATTLE CAN PAINTED AND CLEAR COATED THE MOTOR AND THE OIL PAN..

Trucking along! Did you get the pulley off? I know how you feel when you get frustrated. Just did an RS6 grille swap on the B7 RS4 at home. It looked simple enough, but because the front end of the RS6 is a slightly different shape we had to muscle the thing together to get it to fit properly. There was the moment of walking away to take a break haha. Got it though and it was definitely worth the hassle.

2016 New Years Update!

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO EVERYONE...

- SO OVER THE HOLIDAYS i DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND CHANGE THE AXEL BOOTS AND RAN INTO SOME TROUBLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE CAME OFF WITH NO ISSUES. THOSE DAMN OEM CLAMPS WERE A PAIN IN THE A$$. THE DRIVERS SIDE I CAME APART ON ME WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE THE 3-SIDED PART.. SO I HAD TO ORDER A NEW PASSENGER SIDE AXEL.

- NEXT UP WAS THE OUTER BALL JOINTS... HOLYYYYYY CRAP!!!! THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS A TASK.. PB BLAST AND BANGING WAS NOT DOING IT.. SO I WENT TO LOWES AND DECIDED TO PUT A LITTLE FIRE ON THINGS.. AFTER ALMOST SETTING OFF THE FIRE ALARM IN MY APARTMENT BUILDING AND MY GARAGE SMOKING LIKE A SNOOP DOG CONCERT I GOT THEM OUT..

NATURES GLUE... RUST!!!

THIS IS NEVER GETTING STUCK AGAIN!

- LAST WAS THE BOTTOM OF THE SUB-FRAME. I PAINTED THE TOP BUT FORGOT ABOUT THE PART THAT WILL BE EXPOSED TO SNOW AND SALT IN THE NEXT MONTH... COUPLE COATS OF PAINT AND COUPLE COATS OF CLEAR AND WE ARE READY FOR WINTER.. I ALSO CHANGED THE HOSES AND CLAMPS ON THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR..

soooooo purrrrdy!

New hoses and clamps!
