It's good for cargo and as a daily driver for one or two; however, no one enjoys riding in the back seat.

The new 4-door may solve this issue...original MINI look, but offers a way for your passengers to get in and out of the car. I have not seen the new 4-door yet.

I think it's a very practical car. Look around...most cars on the road have only a driver, with no passengers, 4x4s, mattresses, or Great Danes -- but the Mini can step up and handle these situations. My Mini hauls me around and gets great mileage. Often my daughter is in the car with me, occasionally my wife and daughter. The biggest thing I've had in the car is a bike...but it's pretty rare that I need to haul anything greater than a load of groceries. My wife insists that we have a minivan, but maintaining a car based on the occasional need to haul eight people, or drag your kid's junk to college is kind of silly. She also has a Boxster...which only seats two, has to be put away for the winter, and gets pretty lousy mileage -- it's not a practical car, but it sure is fun. My Mini is fun and practical.

I bought my mini for me, not really to carry other people in. Any average size person is going to have a problem getting in the back seat, there isn't much leg room. The truck area is pretty small, but I've gotten used to it.

That's one of the reason's I like the MINI...it's small. For larger stuff...I have a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup
