Im a completly noob, so have this in
mind
Anyway, I have a question about my Engine mount. I have been googling alot and couldent find one that looked like mine and got suspicious if it was completly bad,especially with the rope sticking out.


But then I found this picture with a guy replacing his and thought that maybe mine is ok for now although an upgrade would be better. What would you say/do?

 

That's the way they make them. New ones look the same. Look for cracks/tears in the rubber or liquid oozing out if you are worried about it.

 

BTW, The upgraded ones can be harsher. Just be sure you understand the trade offs of smooth/quiet vs harsher/performance.

 

This is the mount for the 02-04 cars so there isn't any fluid in them. If your worried about it you can remove the arm that attaches it to the passenger side strut mount, remove the bolt that holds it to the motor, and raise the motor up to see the rubber at the top of the mount. If it is bad you will see cracks there.

 

Actually even the 02-04 rubber mounts are hydraulic filled. As these get older that actually get shorter and ruin the other mounts.
We have the TSW polyurethane version which is a great replacement for it, and will last much longer.
