I love the leatherette look as well, and...darn...that's ANOTHER option I passed on! (Didn't want my butt sticking to my seat.) I'm curious how well the Octagon cloth will look. Anyone with pics of that? (I sure wish the cloth/leather combo was available in the US, but I guess I'll live. Sigh. )
You are probably thinking the Leatherette is more like vinyl. Like on the old American cars. Nothing can be further from the truth. Not once these past 2 summers did my butt stick to the seat and the leatherette breathes real nice. Never sat in the car on a hot day and get any burns, so to speak.

I hope to be ordering a 05 MCS in the next few weeks. I can't wait! My wife and I will being picking it up to replace our second vehicle that was recently sold. I'm not sure what color we will go with yet, but I'm anxious no matter what it is.

Lurch70,

Don't get me wrong. I had re-made up my mind to get the Leatherette (durable, looks great), but my car is in production now, so it's too late.

However, I finally took a look at some pics over at MINI2 of the new Octagon cloth interiors, and the new material looks pretty nice in it's own right. And, almost more importantly to me, it appears to be a very durable (all synthetic material?), tight weave cloth, with what should be excellent breathability. So, I'm no longer troubled by that whole issue. I'm just disappointed, as many of us here are, that not all the available MINI interior upholstery options can be ordered here in the States. Makes me wonder what WE get, that THEY don't get. There must be SOME options that are US only, right? I mean GOOD one's......not the known BAD one's. The whole rear foglights issue thing is NOT an example I'm looking for. (Though it certainly is a shame. )

I still sometimes wish I'd cancelled the Xenon headlights option, but I do keep hearing good things about their performance. And, I've now seen pics of them in action at night, and they ARE very cool looking! Hehehe.

I suppose, if they somehow get an option or two wrong, on delivery, that I might still end up being very satisfied. IF they could just get the RIGHT options WRONG! Unless... Hmmm... Makes for an interesting question, doesn't it? What if they did get some options wrong on your order? What wrong options or configurations would break the deal for you? Certainly, the wrong color could do it for me, although I did have some other body colors (Light Silver, Pepper White) that I almost chose instead. I guess, if my MINI came in Gold, by accident, I'd have to take a pass on that. Not that there's...er...anything wrong with a Gold MINI! (Saw one the other day, and...darn, it did look kinda cool in it's own way. God, I like these cars TOO much. Someone, please shoot me!)

Nice looking cars, guys. The body color dash in the MCS seems to be very popular. Could we get some first driving impressions reviews from you as well? Especially if you traded up an old MINI, or if this is a very different car from your last one. Would be interesting to hear your opinions on your new car's feel. Also, would like to hear what kind of real world mileage you are getting, if you are tracking it. Remember, the OBC is off, for whatever reason, so don't use that in MPG estimation. I'm curious, is the OBC CONSISTENTLY off, like say...ALWAYS 3MPG, or so, or is it's inaccuracy more variable than that?

I fall in the latter catagory. Two weeks ago, I was driving a 1993 Mercury Topaz: The horn didn't work, it was a slow as death warmed over, but dammit, it ran. Still does. I hope the MINI proves to be just as or even more reliable, but only time will tell.

Obviously, the MINI is much faster and has WAY more amenities than I had in my previous ride. This is my first new car and my first standard transmission car. I was impressed with how easy the MINI takes off and how easy it is to drive it. That didn't stop me from stalling it a few times, but oh well.

Through the mid-range, I don't think I could ask for more power. Off the line and probably top end (I'm going to avoid trying that first hand for a while), my hubby's highly-modded Honda Civic Si could probably beat my MCS, but I think I have him through 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. Overall, I'm very impressed with the MINI. It is better than I could have imagined, and I have been anticipating this car for about three years.

As far as gas milage, I was a journalism major in college, so math's not my forte. I rely on the OBC. The first tank, the car got about 22 mpg. Second tank, 23 mpg. And the third, 24 mpg. I have gotten 350-400 miles per fill-up. I drive mostly on country roads, not much traffic, but not too much interstate driving either.

I'd love to see some pics of the new interior lighting additions.....inside door release and other. The dealer's not open when its dark and haven't seen any local '05s at night either. I'm very curious about light intensity and the overall night-time look of the cabin.

This is a duplicate link to the July build thread, but oh well. Better pictures as soon as we can clean it and the weather permits.

I am so jealous.

My 2004 is only 2 months old but because me last car was totalled I didn't have time to build one. My next one will have the dash and chrome accents.

I want a red dash

My car is beautiful though

I haven't ordered mine yet. I'm still deciding on options. I would have left the dash petina, but the matching body color looks so sweet. I would LOVE to see some pictures of GRB matched interior and the beige leather together before I jump for the GRB interior.

ok, new S pictures

so far I'm having some problem getting it to back up when I put it in 6th gear...
and I had the old MFSW down to unconscious reflex, hard to unlearn that...
but I really dig the anthracite headliner, and blue & chrome dash
and ohhh man is the shifting sweetly notchy and the acceleration a kick in the butt

keep in mind this is minus about $4k in paid for options: aero kit, driving lights, sirius...
And I like the color (really) , but c'mon, do you think the color actually looks anything like the promo pictures?? (last pic, for reference)

I just love that hyper blue. I think I like it better than the old Indie Blue. It's just so dark and rich. And I love your sig pic, by the way, you photoshop guru. However, would you mind posting some pics of your anthacite headliner when you get the chance? I'd like to see what it looks like in a real world interior (since I ordered my so early that they didn't even realize it was an option yet).

Jimbo, what are those two oval/circular things in the 5th, 6th and 7th picture. The caption says they light the dash??? They seem to be right behind the rearview mirror on the ceiling in the place where the sunroof controls are on my '03 MC.

I didn't remember reading about those, and the other night I reached my hand up to dim the mirror and my hand was bathed in orange light! I was totally not expecting it Seems there are two orange LEDs up there that shine downward an put an orange glow on things... kind of cool actually

In front of those are two maplights, and back in the middle of the roof the original two maplights on either side of the main dome light are now aimed for back seat passenger/drivers

Hmmm... did anyone happen to get the blue/black leather interior and a HB/W with body color dash... I'm getting a bit worried that my combo will look dumb since nobody else seems to have gotten it.

Truth is that you don't see the exterior color too much from inside the car. About the only time you see the interior and exterior color at the same time is when you are getting in.

I have seen pictures of the red cloth in a red Mini which I thought looked bad. I have not seen a blue interior in a blue car, but I think blue is more forgiving with regard to matching shades. Especially since there are multiple shades of blue exterior available, but only one red.

I've got Purple with a red interior, so I'm not one to give advice, but at least I won't try to get into someone else's car by mistake at the mall!

I think the red/black will look excellent with BEPH
