Yes Bav, lubing it up doesn't work as it doesn't even fit the inlet. The silicone hose is too small.

If any other people could chime in, especially with the Venair/DDM combo it would be very helpful. I would like a silicone hose and not use the stock as I would like to stay ahead of the cracking and replacing of the stock hose.

Salty, how did you go about getting it on? I'm assuming the Alta box is closer to stock size. Did you heat the Venair and stretch it or did you do something else? I know I will have to trim but if I can't even get it on then I'm not going to trim it and then be out that $$$ because I can't return it.

I basically got one 1/2 of it on, took the filter off, and pryed the other half on from the inside. I didn't need any lube. also I know that the alta box was a larger diam, cause the stock hose had to be stretched over it as well

I measured this today and it seems that the DDM box is about an 1/8th of an inch bigger than the intake opening.

Still brainstorming ideas on how to get this on as it seems Out Motoring doesn't know what I was talking about and said something about only giving me a partial refund.

Keep the ideas coming guys. My next step is I'm actually going to boil the silicone hose to get it as pliable as I possibly can. If I can get it on the box that way then I will proceed to trim it down and try to get it on.

Yea that would awesome if I hadn't already spent $90, AND am basically being told I won't get a full refund for my purchase.

If you want to just buy one and send it my way then I'd be happy to take a black one just for this nightmare to be over.

Heat the crap out of it. Your best chances are if you get it nice and hot. Not hot as in you put it in the sink with some warm water. You might need a heat gun.

Sell it on the marketplace someone else will want it, then buy the ddm.

Hey Andy. I may not have access to a heat gun so would a hair dryer get hot enough you think? I was going to try setting it in boiling water, then using a bellowed cup to slowly expand the hose. Any thoughts on that?

Silicone intake and intercooler hoses cause more problems than they are worth IMO. They look nice under the hood, but are much more likely to leak than the stock ones and offer no improved performance. Unless you really want bright colors under the hood, I'd save my money for something else.

boiling water is only 212. a hair dryer can get hotter, heat gun even more than that, I would try the water first to see if it helps

Update: I used a heat gun and we almost got the hose on. I took the intake off, and attached the hose to there on the ground as that was giving us the most problems. Now however, the hose on the bottom is just barely going on. The back side is the biggest problem, but we are giving this one more shot today.

If it doesn't work I'll be selling the trimmed hose on the marketplace as well as the DDM intake. As of this time I am VERY disappointed with both products and don't find this to be worth ANY of the hassle that has been gone thru. At least 3/4 of an inch needed to be trimmed off that hose. Which I felt was unnecassary in terms of a product being made to fit your automobile.

I had problems fitting the OEM intake to the M7 Airbox so I got an Alta one and it went on like a trick. No problems on either 3 inlets. Just FYI, I love the M7 Speed CAI, it sounds great.

We FINALLY got the hose on!! It was a terribly pain, and quite frankly if it pops off under some hard driving, I'm screwed! All in all; absolutely not worth it in terms of time and quality.

My advice personally is if you're going to get an intake, just get one with some hard piping like the AFE or K&N. Much less of a PITA. You know, unless of course you don't run into issues like I had using just a box w/ the stock hose lol.

On the plus side... My DDM intake does sound pretty BA, and the extra bit of color under the hood is kind of nice.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a struggle for sure.

I've recently purchased the Red DDM Silicone intake tube for my 05 JCW
Fits good over the MINI JCW air box , but all in all besides the nice "Red" it ads to engine bay ...It delivers no added performance
stock tube fits the best

it's a pita for the most part, most tubes go on very tough and need trimming. The stock tube is much easier to deal with. I'm afraid to take my silicone off for fear I won't be able to get it back on.

Thanks!
I was actually looking for step by step process... To see if I can do it on my own. What do I have to take off to get an access to all three points of the hose in order to replace OEM with silicone on my 06 jcw?

You just replace the hose, no steps needed.

airbox, silencer and the ram air need to come out, so you can get the hose onto the throttle body. other than that pretty simple
