Alta filter desintegrating

So I went to clean the foam filter on my Alta CAI today, and found the foam filter was coming apart, and actually had started separating at the seam! What good is a filter if it isn't "filtering"... LOL

So, has anybody found a suitable replacement filter for the Alta Intake? I have a speed shop near me that stocks Spectre filters, and was thinking about trying one of those...

did you call them about a replacement part?

I'm pretty sure a friend of mine had the issue and ALTA was very helpful at minimal cost . . .

No l'm not the original owner, and the intake was installed when I got it. I also believe it probably failed due to lack of maintenance since my red filter was black and clogged with crap...

I took the dimensions from the JCW air filter and cross referenced that with the Amsoil nano filter and have been very pleased the last seven years. It definately breathes better at high altitudes. It's easy to clean, very durable and reasonably priced. Figured since that filter technology is used on the turbine engine of an Abrams tank, should be good enough for our R53. Good luck.

+2 on the Amsoil (reusable non-oiled) blue filter. I have one for both my JCW's

I just took an Alta out of the new(er) JCW and it was falling apart and not cleaned.

When the wrong oil is used on servicing foam filters. It can destroy the foam...
Folks often use K&N OIL on a foam filter....it destroys them....
Buy a new filter....problem solved...oh..and BUY the RIGHT servicing kit!!

We have the Pipercross version filters and must use the pipercross cleaner and light oil. Sounds like wrong filter / cleaner over the years.
