It comes with a 3 year/36000 mile service plan. That basically includes three servicings I believe since they recommend only changing your oil every 10,000 - 15,000 miles. If you wish to change your oil more frequently, it'll be out of your own pocket. Even so, it's a pretty good deal.

thankyou for clearing it up. also i would like to know how long does it take for the dealer to do the servicing on your car? does the dealer give you another car to drive while your car is in for servicing?

Both of those situations depend on your dealer. I bought my MINI at Crown MINI in Richmond VA and they will give me a loaner car if my car will be in the shop for an extended time. I don't think they'd do it for an oil change though.

Do you really only need to change oil every 10k? Man, on my old car (turbocharged A4), if you didn't do it by every 5k you were really doing bad by your car. 3-4k was more like it.

Depending on your driving, the MINI service interval will go way over 10k miles. Ours is over 15k! The synthetic oil in the MINI last much longer than conventional oil but if you take short trips or race your car, I'd suggest sticking with a 5k mile interval. We do one change between MINI services so our oil gets changed every 7-8k miles. This is probably what I will do now that it's out of it's free service mileage.

The first servicing is an oil change and that's about it. I took my car in, and waited about 1 hour for it to be done. I told them NOT to wash the car, don't want to risk any scratches from them.

They said Service #2 is much more intensive, and takes longer. When I last checked my local dealer has a minimum 1 month wait time, and it's not something I can wait for.

I'm about 1200 miles away from my Service #2--and am currently at about 22,000 miles.
