Holy crap! No one stateside could even imagine getting anything discounted on their MINI purchase, much less free. These cars are just in too much demand.

If you can work a discount, becuase of your military situation, then go for it! However, a $1,700 option for free (the R90s), is an unlikely deal, even for a not-so-hot car. You might need to re-evaluate your offer when the dealer tells you to get lost. But then again, what do you have to lose by making the offer?
