Hi folks, the air channel (part number 51757201453) for power steering fan on my mini is in a very bad shape, with scratches and big holes it just looks awful.

I think it's about time to replace this piece, which seems like the weakest link for protecting the delicate power steering fan, may be among others. But can't justify spending over $160 for a piece of plastic.

The quality of this plastic doesn't give me confidence either. I'm wondering ... that if there are better options for this air channel, for example made of durable metal may be? I wouldn't mind paying more for quality.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Wow...
When I retrofitted mine it was a $85 part....including the part that was changed as part if the airdam under the car....
Check any junkyards?
Since the airduct was only on limited cars it is a hard item to find....
I'd do my best to fit it...it is plastic and flexes for a reason...
If it was metal...it would be crushed rather than squished and bounce back...
Guess you could fiberglass your old one....bet bet a speed bump, etc will crush it...
