Starting without the enabler chip

I discovered something interesting with my 2004 MSC w/manual tranny.I had a blank key made without the enabler chip, just the key. I could only use it to open the door and turn on the the ignition but could not engage the starter due to the ignition disabler. But found out that I am able to kickstart the car just using the unchip key and drive it. Pretty cool, the ignition disabler only disables the starter function. Now I know I have a cheap spare key for emergencies. I think I'm going to wire a remote starter switch in the engine compartment so I can start it without needing a hill to kickstart it. Probably a solution for auto trannies. Come to think of it I could wire a push to start button somewhere on the console.

glad to see that someone tested my theory. i had a key made same as you and cant start the car. i later pondered that i should be able to push start the car but i never tried it myself. thank you for the insight.
