I saw on ehow that you can adjust many of the computer options yourself in the R56 models. I really don't want to pay the dealer $125 to change mine. So does anyone know if the R53 models can do it too?

 

you cannot change them from the menu's....
to be changed...you must hook up a computer.....and do a bit of hacking...
the tools ARE around....
the changes are pretty minor...
there are a few lists around...things like Daytime running lights, follow me home lights, assiging what the buttons do on the remote of the refresh(3 button) remote....to name a few...about 12 items if I recall....

 

Do you have any links to those hacks. I really don't want to pay the dealership $125 to do this simple task that they enabled in the newer models.

 

If you're good with computers it's not terribly difficult. I bought a $100 cable online and downloaded the software through a torrent and was able to tweak a few things. Now I can close the windows with the fob without putting the key in door. I was also able to activate one touch closing of the windows on the center console switches. Edit: the same cable and software package can also read error codes in any module in the car.
