Trade-in_Value

I'm curious to see if folks here will be close to actual value obtained. What do you estimate I'll get from Carmax for the following:

Base 2006 Chili Red MINI Cooper S
60,000 miles
Stock, no modifications
Well maintained
Cruise control
Minor scratches, dings, hood chips, rear hatch dented/replaced
Structurally and Mechanically sound

I don't know but go to Kelly Blue Book and you'll get a pretty close estimate.

I disposed of two vehicles from an estate thru CARMAX and both times it was low end KBB to the penny.

CARMAX is great if you want to sell fast and be done with it ... but they buy low .... that's their business.

Whatever they offer, it will be lower than what it should be. Check several sites for values. I use Galves.com. It is what the dealerships use. There is a nominal fee.
I went to look at volvos this past weekend. I had a printout from Galves that valued the trade in value of my MINI at between 7800 to 8800 dollars. The Volvo dealership offered me 5500 dollars in trade. I walked out.

trade_in_detailing

Thanks for the replies. Anyone recommend how "clean" the car should be? The car presents well, but it's not fine-tooth-comb detailed clean. Will scrubbing the hell out of it actually help? Or is general cleaning (i.e. everything wiped and in good order) clean enough? I'd prefer not to pay $300 to have it detailed if that degree of clean will not help its value.

Thanks!
Greg

The cleaner & tidier will translate into dollars at sale time. Take a weekend & spiff it up. Your time may equal more money in your pocket.

Post up their offer and I'll beat it.

That's exactly the mini for which I'm in the market.
