Tail Light Plastic

Someone bashed my taillight and shattered the plastic that covers the lights. Is it possible to replace just the plastic covering or do I have to buy a whole new light?

Do the whole thing. There a tons on eBay for $25 dollars. Maybe get left and right so they match. Lights tend to get cloudy, hazy and roughy looking over time. It would bother me to have a nice clean light and old cloudy one.

You have to get the whole unit. I would be wary of cheap eBay aftermarket stuff, might be more likely to let in moisture, etc. They pop up on the marketplace here sometimes.

+1 for do both....
Easy to change out...about 5 minutes each.
OEMS are kinda $$, but a good used set will work...
Be advised....there are 2 different gen1 versions....not interchangeable..a 2005+ "facelift" backup with the backup light, and the 2002-2004 one, no backup light...it used a backup light built into the bumper....so get the right one....most of the aftermarket eBay ones DO NOT FIT BOTH...but they usually say they do........you must look at the lenses, and determine if it is for the early or late cars...

+1 on doing both at the same time. Otherwise they might not match. Depnedant on the pre7/2004 ( older design ) and the post 7/2004 (newer design).

Here is the link to the thread, you have some options once you know what type you have and what month/ year production your MINI is.

VS.
