My mini did not come programmed with the options I wanted. I want everything to unlock when I turn ignition off. I want everything to unlock with one press of the key fob. I wanted follow me home lights, not sure now. I wanted daytime running lights, not sure now.

So when I go for my first service will the dealer attempt to charge me for these changes? I will service at a different dealer cuz I purchased out of state (Ca).

Also what are the other options I have forgotten them, any recommedations?

My dealer said first reprogramming was free. After that, a fee.

My first service call I asked for several changes....no charge. Haven't changed anything since. Read the book and know what you want. Too many msgs here imply no one other than me reads the owner's manual too see what's available.

Your dealer should have asked you what you wanted and explained the options and done the programming free when you picked up the car, but many don't. I took my MINI in about a month after I bought it to have some programming done. They wanted to charge me for it but when I mentioned nobody said anything about programming when I picked up the car, they decided they could do it free. I had the daytime driving lights turned on and think they look good, along with being a safety factor.

If you get the follow me home lights programmed I'd recommend you ask for the 30 second setting. Mine are set at 90 seconds and it seems like forever. It's no problem having them work though because if you don't want them to stay on just turn your lights off before turning off the key.

Anyway, If you've had no programming done they should do it for free, even at a different dealer. Insist on it if necessary.
