Do I have a tune?

I bought a used 2005 MCS in July. TD98474 if that guy is on this forum. That would be cool. Anyway, the first owner did some mods to it. A 15% reduction pulley, and an Alta CAI, and some cold plugs and wires. He also deleted the back seat, and installed he world's ugliest (but lightweight) wheels.

Possibly stupid questions...

So now I've got the car, and I'm planning out what I want to do to it. One thing is some JCW 380cc injectors, which I'm told would be helped with a tune. Okay, no problem. But I'm wondering if I already have a tune because of the CAI and pulley. Is there any way I could even tell? Would my MINI mechanic be able to tell? If I already have one, would it cause a problem with getting a new one when I get my injectors installed?

Simply put, no way to know with ecu programming unless you downloaded the files and looked at them....ecu tuning is done very stealthily to avoid detection...
But if you drive a tuned, then a unturned car, the differences are pretty big in many cases...
You can INFER you might have a tune...most tuners do more than change the maps...
They usually
1) increase the redline by 500 or so rpms
2) Change tge behavior of the DSC/ATC+t to make it less aggressive when activated
3) make the fuel pedal more sensitive....kinda of like a sprintboister does....
But not all tuners fo those changes...and custom tunes are...custom...they may/may not had the extra adjustments....
A good tuner will look at how your cars runs on the current software/maps...and update them to make the car run better on modified maps...

Hmm...

My redline is at 6500, right where I think it's supposed to be. The other things I can't tell because this is the only MINI I've ever driven.

I'm going to assume I don't have anything but the stock tune.

Thanks!

they only way to know for sure is ask the previous owner, or have us read the data out of the ECU. Then we can see if anything is modified.
