i picked up my first mini last month. a 2002 mini cooper s

ive got this connector coming off the engine wiring harness and i have no idea where it goes. any ideas?

Can you zoom out a little in your photo? I'm assuming we're looking at a plug on your passenger side frame rail? Have you already tried moving it around everywhere at the end of its reach, where ever it goes to will probably be at about the end of its length.

Edit,.. BTW, when you say it won't start, do you mean it won't turn over, or it won't fire up?

well its resting on the passenger side frame rail, but thats just kinda where it ended up. it has nearly a foot reach from the engine wiring harness,

and it will turn over and over, just wont fire

Is your cam position sensor plugged in? Check by the passenger's motor mount.

Also check that your coil pack is plugged in.

That does look like the coil pack harness, but it stretches to the back of the engine then up to the coil pack. See if you have your cable connected to the back of this unit located on the valve cover?

And there is a plug very similar on the crankshaft sensor , 12141485844

#8 in the diagram above.

Also shared with the Camshaft sensor but that's on the other side of the engine , so its most likely not for that. #8 diagram below.

Thanks and hope that helps.
