HELP... R53 Power Steering Pump Replacement

I want to know if theres a new replacement (not rebuild) for the electric power steering pump? I know that it has a recall but im having problems with the dealership they want me to put a lot of unnecesary parts in order to grant me the recall.

Just pony up the $600 or so...you can buy a new pump...even from the dealer...
More rebuilds are around now that mini is doing the recalls in the us/Canada....Bet it is to lower costs and to get more units into the dealers hands....
3rd party non- mini rebuilds should (IMO) be avoided in most cases...but willing to bet the OEM/mini rebuilds are as good as new with lots of new parts (The older 3rd party rebuilds were just a cleaning, new brushes, and new pumping mechanism, but the electronic controllers were NOT changed.... Bet they do now on the OEM rebuilds....

What do they want you to do? If your hoses are leaking, replacing the pump should come with the o-rings. What else can they be suggesting?

They want me to change the hoses because they say theyre leaking when it was a spill, the thing is that i live 2 hours away from the nearest dealership and the car has 0 power steering.

So clean the hoses....
go back...they will be clean....if they ask about the note in your record...the hoses were changed with used hoses.
Seems crazy to spend $600 to get a new pump, with old hoses..
when they will install a new pump for free, but want to sell you a $100 hose...Admittedly they can be built at ANY shop that makes hydrolic hoses for about half that (a educated guess)...

OEM - Power Steering Pump for all 02-06 R50 R52 R53 MINI Cooper and S.
Steering getting a bit stiff or does it take your body weight to park? Does the pump keep running after shut off the car? If so it might be time for a new power steering pump. WMW keeps brand new OEM pumps in stock. We do NOT recommend rebuilt power steering pumps, we have had them fail soon after replacement, costing you time and money.
The MINI power steering pumps commonly fail without warning and you'll have no Power Steering.

Assuming you are going to fork out a couple hundred for a pump to do it yourself, wouldn't it be worth it to buy a few hoses and get a free pump with it? IDK that just seems worth it to me, it has to be cheaper to buy hoses than a pump, and you don't have to change it yourself! They should also replace your cooling fan at the same time unless you have already had it replaced, make sure they do that.
