No Supercharger whine

Hi,

I have a 2005 Cooper S with 33K miles on the clock.
I can't hear the supercharger whine for the most part. When I do, its very faint and I have to strain to hear it...I usually hear this faint whine at low rpms only...

Is something wrong?

Its an automatic Cooper S

Usually hear it at low RPM's only? Wow.

I have the Alta Cold Air Intake -which many people say is one of the loudest. Mine sc whine is very hard to miss hearing it!

It is loudest, really just SCREAMING at higher RPM, and under load.. ie going up a hill at full throttle and like 5000 rpm or more.

Just cruising along (even at high rpm -if im not accelerating) ..not under heavy load etc, then i don't hear it as much, and I think that's because of the way the by-pass-valve works.

Go somewhere where you can safely open it up a little, lock your automatic to 2nd gear or something and floor it for some hard acceleration at high rpm. -I'm thinking that even with the stock air box and filter, the whine should be an unmistakable sound, especially at high rpm under load.

The supercharger whine is part of the reason I originally bought my car. I took it for a test drive and opened it up... That sound sold me immediately. I don't have anything besides brake upgrades so far and lightweight wheels.

Check your belt tensioner, it could be bad.

You have no boost at steady throttle. S/C whine will occur only when you put your right foot down on the accelerator.
