Automatic r53 radiators? replacements?

I'm looking for aftermarket replacement of my radiator in my automatic r53, but any I look at online says manual only. What's the big difference???? Anyone know where I can get a cheap replacement that fits the r53 auto?

Not sure what year you have, and I know that the hoses are different on an automatic than a hoses on a manual trans.

I always thought the radiators were the same on either one.

I looked it up on realoem.com. They show hoses for automatic, hoses for manual

Then -On the page that shows 'radiator' there is no distinction of the kind of transmission, instead it had the words Canada International.

I'd call the guy at ECS, he's super good at part numbers and detail info like that.

They have options including: an Genuine MINI brand, an upgrade all aluminum, and two aftermarket (less expensive) alternatives. None of them specify a particular transmission type.

Edit: here's a link http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2005-C...ling/Radiator/

On many cars, you install the same radiator if you do aftermarket....
You just do not connect the tranny cooler loop at the bottom with a stick...
Not sure if the rad is different..look up the OEM part # on realoem.com?

I have to agree with this post, I have seen the prices go from $50.00-over $300.00! What gives here? What is the best radiator for the buck with no mods for installation? I have a base 2003 MINI automatic, thanks, AL.

Hi AL, -Sorry I don't have more advice, I have an 05 "S" model, with manual transmission, and I don't know enough about automatics to be helpful.

Best radiator for the buck,... Well I'm going with the all aluminum Mishimoto. I'm sure it's more than I need, but I like the lifetime warranty. They'll replace it even if the damage is caused by hitting a tree! Now that's a warranty!

Vendors on here like WMW, ECStuning, Pelican Parts and others know MINI's as well as anyone. Call one of them; they'll likely ask you of your intended use of the car, and hook you up with your best option for a direct fit replacement.

Wizards and Alex - Think you are talking about the R53 / R52 Cooper S version. Auto and manual.

Aluminum Radiator Part # 17117570489

While I think IDOXLR8 " I have a base 2003 MINI automatic, thanks, AL." which needs the R50 / R52 (Non - S ) version. Auto and Manual.

Aluminum Radiator Part # 17117570821

Thanks , just wanted to make sure things are not mixed up. Let me know IDOXLR8 that's what you meant.

Details are important! Good catch ECS.

So there's no difference between auto and manual trans radiators.

But the r50 radiator is different than the r53 radiator. Good to know.
