We just bought a 05 MCS with Sport Vinyl seats with no lumbar adjustment(I read this wasn't an option). The car has 60k and the seats jab into my lower back and mid thigh. both driver and pass side. Is it just me or others having issues? Are the cloth or leather with lumber adjustment any better?

 

I purchased an 06 MCS last year and have the same issue although mainly from the seat bottom. I'm a 170lb medium build guy and the seat bottom squeezed my legs so tightly it made me feel as if i were sitting in a v groove.. I understand the need for support especially in a well handling car like the mini, although i believe the desiginers went a little overboard. I actually removed the seat from the car and lightly shaved out some foam from the side bolstering using a dremel and stretched the seat cover tight again upon installation. I sit much flater on the seat and is much more comfortable now... not sure if this can be applied to the seat back or not.. Maybe removing some foam might help? I'm sure at one point i will consider aftermarket seats but for now I'm pleased...

Also i tried to sit in cloth MCS seats and found the same uncomfortable feeling... perhaps the JCW Recaro seats might be a better fit.. Not sure... but all i know is this seat problem is not going to stop me from enjoying my MCS.

 

The lumbar adjustment came on the leather seats...
I got the regular seats with the "space gray" cloth...pretty comfy...
Remember thinking the "sport seats" on the test drive (I ordered new) might have been too stiff for a long drive....so I ordered most of the sport package a-la-carte....

 

I keep the lumbar on the lowest setting. Any more and I feel it's just too much. The first time I leaned the seat all the way back to rest while waiting for someone I thought I was in a medieval torture device.
