R53 Headlight washer

I have an 05 and 06 R53's for the longest time now. But not once did I use the headlight washers on them. Recently when I replaced the driver side xenons on my 05, I had to transfer my components to the donor light assy. After I transferred the washer, i was curios for the first time how it works. Surprise! I could not find anything on the washer stalk that indicates that function. Does it automatically wash the headlight when you wash your windshield???

It will clean the headlights for one cycle if your lights are on and you pull the stalk back to wash the windshield.

Thanks! Baznight
I will try that and see for myself if my washers are even working since I bought my cars.

I think your vehicle only has one washer bottle but on mine an 02 MCS The passengerside one is for the wipers and the driverside is for the headlights. With the headlamp already on when ya pull the wiper stalk the headlight sprayers should come out and spray 2 or 3 times fairly quickly.

Both of my cars have tanks on both sides. I went out just now and tried it. On the 05 I can even here the pump burst water. I went outside and both heaights L&R are wet. But nothing happened on my 06. Did not hear that sound I heard on the other car and its not wet. Even if my right tank was empty I shojld at least hear the motor sound. Dont you think I got a busted fuse?

Id fill up the headlight side first and then give it a few more tries. You will need to get fluid out to the headlight assemblies before the system will work. If the lines go dry it can be a pain to get the system going again cause it isn't like the windshield system. Each time you want to try it again you will have to completely key off and go thru the process again.
