Removing the arm rest/door trellis work

Hey all,

So I have the weekend off and was thinking about doing some quick carbon fiber work on my door arm rest panel. (the bit that is in a y type shape with the padded arm rest on it) I was wondering if anyone knew how to isolate that piece without taking the whole door panel off. Obviously the three allen head screws need to come out but I cant figure out how to remove the faux brushed aluminum plastic that covers the y shaped part. Anyone have experience with removing these? Pics to come once I get everything apart.

I believe it's permanently attached to the door panel, but I could be wrong.
Regardless, you're not getting it off without removing he entire panel. After you remove the three screws, there's only one more screw to get the panel off (under the little reflector in the top corner. It's really not that difficult. Just be careful prying it off so you don't damage any retaining clips.

The door panel circular trim is molded to the door. You would have to break the molded section to the door and then reattach it. Most guys have worked around it on painting and such.

Link to door mod.
