I just wanted to let everyone know how to replace the rear wiper blade for less than the $40 the dealer wants for it. I went to the local parts store and bought the wiper refills you snap to fit. They had multiple sizes, but the 8mm ones are almost exactly the same width. They cost me about $7 and I got enough material for 4 wiper blades. I had to take the wiper arm off the car to install, but much cheaper and faster than driving an hour and back to the Mini dealer.

I do these for my rear wiper. I don't suggest the inserts for the front blades though as when I did it, the driver side wiper blade started to separate four inches on each end.

Geez, the whole rear wiper blade part (61627079943) is less than $20.
Shame on the Stealer for adding on more than an additional 100% profit over the usual margin!

 

Good to hear this info posted/reposted every couple of years....reminds folks the dealer/oem parts are not the only way to matain a mini!! Some ingenuity and hard work can save some money, and msybe remond the dealer, if their prices get too far out of wack, they will sell even less...
