An article at MotoringFile.com indicates that the new cupholder comes in silver and anthracite and will attach using two screws. It's already on the market across the pond.....expect it to be available here......soon. Cost about $35.

You people with your irrational attachment to passenger seats kill me.

>>how can anyone drink and drive at the same time? have you ever tried to take a drink while taking a corner at 35 MPH? i can not be done.
You are quite correct. When I tried to do that in the MINI, I spilled my martini all over myself.

meanboy - I agree with your statement on the E39 cupholders. They are definitely non functional for cups. However, the front cup holders hold a couple of beer cans quite well.

Attaches with two screws???

Does that mean drilling is needed, or is it like the MINI-Fini-clamp-style-thingy?

From the picture, it looks to be a LHD (Brit?) car with a slim molded piece that mount via the two screws high on the outside of the down tubes. That car has a shelf installed. I hope the glovebox door on US spec cars misses it! It does look to address some of the issues stated with the MiniFini holder.
