anyone tried to fit a R56 bumper to a R53?

I want to change my R53 front bumper to the aero bumper and i wonder if it's possible to fit the R56 bumper to a R53. i know it means changing the grills also but could it be done without major modifications?

XXLil MickXX 11-16-2012 11:03 AM

in short, no..not w/o major mod.. but it has been done. i am working on a gen2 jcw front bumper. you have to cut it and fuse it with a gen 1 :) look at both and it will be easier to understand. good luck! there is someone making it i see on facebook but sorry can't remember it's name. i'll get back to you if i see it again.

Is that just the stock look on a Japanese spec R53? Wonder if anyone imports those.

No. That's an aftermarket modification.

Exactly right on. Perfect IMO without front plate.

At that price, won't be viable for importers, unless demand is there. You might have better luck ordering directly. Shipping must be $$$, too.

astroBlackMetallic_Mini 11-20-2012 05:11 AM

im continually surprised that these minis are so popular in Japan! so many bad-A parts there!

why is that? just bc of the tuning scene? heck, seems like any car that is "sporty" but not quite as popular here has a huge parts list over there!

minsanity 11-20-2012 07:04 AM

You'll be amazed to what extent the enthusiasts over there will go. Quality is usually top notch. Tastes may vary though. Some are just way over the top. So with the prices.

Khanfucious - That's a GP front fascia. Not an R56.

Kahnfucious 11-21-2012 01:10 PM

Sorry -- you are completely right -- I think to the OP -- if you want a similar look to the R56..I think a bit of work with smoothing out a GP front bumper might be the easiest route. ..that would emulate an R56.

Hello here are the options:

This is the R56 JCW Aero side skirts:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-to-r53-2.html

This is the R53 GP front bumper set up: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-bumper-2.html

R53/R52 Cooper S/JCW Aero front bumper: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...roduction.html

R56 Aero to R53:

People have made the R56 JCW aero kits front bumper work with some mods and fitting, i would have to find the thread, all we have left is the Aero III kit. Lots of the Aero I and Aero II R56 JCW front bumpers/parts are NLA.

Pretty much the brake ducts and some of the parts behind the bumper will need not used or trimmed as you can see in the Aero I JCW body kit video above.
