R50/53 eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
hello everyone. i've been posting here and there for the past day or two but i figured i should introduce myself to everyone before blabbering any further...
i picked up my mini last saturday (3/6). the tuesday before that i got so fed up with my '96 audi a4 that i decided instead of throwing more money at it i'd go out and buy a new car! i'd wanted a mini for the past year or so (even ordering a chili/white non-s about a year ago before deciding to stick with the audi) so i drove on over to westchester mini, talked to the sort of helpful motoring advisor, who advised me that they didn't have any s's to test drive (?) but he'd have one for me the next day.
next day.
drove on over there again, this time with my dad for his words of wisdom.
test drove an electric blue s, ten minutes later bought a brg/w one sitting right on the sales floor!
and the best part?
the first day i was there i was oogling the very same green one, which then had a sold sign on it...
the day after, the sold sign was gone. i almost had a heart attack. asked the advisor if it was available.... and it was! the buyer had a fight with his wife and the deal fell through!
and now my as yet unnamed cooper is happily sitting in my garage, waiting out a nasty end of winter snow storm.
yaaayyyyy!!!
he has the sport, premium and cold packages, black leatherette / anthracite interior, black rubber floor mats, that nice glove box organizer i ordered from mini mania, harmon kardon, xenons, bonnet stripes, 17" s lites (which i want to replace with white, much lighter wheels).
and what a joy it's been to drive. i thought my tricked out a4 was fun, but it's put to shame next to a bone stock mini s! (not that i'll ever forget sebastian
).
i don't know how much of this post is legible, but i'm quite excited, even after a week and a half. there was some annoying rattling in the driver's side door panel with the stereo on but i took the advise of some helpful nam members and shoved a miracle piece of cardboard under the door panel. since then, no probs (knock on wood).
funniest comment i got so far was when i took it down to the insurance office to be photographed, by a woman who's never seen one before. "wow, this is a lot like that austin powers car." uh, heh, it is.
heehee.
i can't wait to get my tax refund. i'm thinking nice big piaa driving lights, and eventually, probably next year, some 16 or 17" white wheels and non-runflats to soften up the ride and lighten up those super heavy s lites.
ok long post, i know. thanks everyone who reads this. i'm going to post some pictures as soon as i wax it. i'm waiting for zaino and microfiber towels in the mail. oh and for it to warm up!
thanks again
christina.
oh, if the person who's car this was supposed to be is reading this, sorry! and better luck on your next try (really).

hey you know fuchsia was my second choice, but they only had one with a white top and i really wanted the black with purple polka dots.
my mirrors are white. i don't really go for the chrome look. i'm jealous of your driving lights, pocketrocketowner.
thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.

Nice choice on the BRG/W ! I certainly love mine!
Great story and welcome to NAM, sorsha6!
Today, I installed the PIAA driving lights and they look great. Tomorrow I will do the actual electrical work, but it was getting dark and cold at the end of the afternoon.
I was also able to cut to the front of the line and take my BRG/W MCS right off the showroom floor. I had one ordered, and my dealer called me and told me that one was arriving exactly as I wanted it but the buyer had decided not to get it. I jumped at the chance to abandon my 3 month wait and snap it up immediately.

Help! I'm thinking of buying a Mini from Mini of Hamptons---any thoughts or advice? They have a stock MCS that is fairly close to ideal but I live on the left coast and don't know anythng about them. Any help from NAM members will be much appreciated.

Congrats on the new car. Fate was working in your favor. I had a similar experience when I went to order my MINI. I walked into the showroom and there was my little Nittany just sitting there exactly as I wanted. There was no "Sold" sign on her but I soon changed that.
Enjoy!!
Enjoy!!
thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
i ordered some zaino the other day and i was wondering if someone here who's used it could let me know what surfaces it's safe on... rubber, chrome, glass, bonnet stripes, etc. can't wait to have the shiniest mini in town!
