R50 steering rack replacement

Im replacing the steering rack on a 2004 MC....is there anything tricky to look out for or does anyone have any tips to share for this procedure?

I bought the Bentley manual and it doesnt look too bad.

Any response would be appreciated!...thanks!

OK...so I started this job.
Couple of interesting things to note:
1. I used a punch to knock off the tie rod end...very easy compared with a tie rod tool...see photo

2. The rack is held on with inverted Tory bolts...E30s. See photo

3. The first 2 (closest to front of car) came off easily with a 10mm socket
4. The back 2 stripped...ugh!
5. I am now in process of dropping the front subframe to get to it. Painful.
6. I'll post some pix of that when I get it out and explain how I got the stripped bots out.

The moral of the story...use e30 sockets to take out the rack bolts!...more to come
