Airbag light

Does anyone know if splicing the plug for the air bag seat sensor from one seat to another will cause a light? Changing my R 53 to factory leather seats. The previous owner removed the plugs for his new seats and i transfered the plug from mine. The pad was not distrubed It was carefully spiced and taped. Did i change the resistence? So far i have only changed the Driver side. The only thing that wasn't plug and play was that plug.

Sorry guys i should have did a more recent search, I did infact start the car with the seat unpluged so do i really need to see the dealer for a reset or can i some how use my Scan Gauge 2 that in the car?

I am assuming you soldered the splice right, then used heat shrink on it?!...not just a butt connector?
As said above, if the car was powered on with the seats removed/not plugged in..they need to be reset...assuming the seats you got are 100% compatible....pree 2005 and post 2005 seats are different due to the inclusion of a pressure sensor for the two stage airbags mandated by the US government.....so assuming the seats are both of the same era as your car....

Airbag reset tool is separate...not possible with a scanguage/consumer reader.
PEAK at one point made an airbag rest tool---was round just like their BMW odb tools..looked the same..was said to work on the MINI, but was a separate AIRBAG tool.

Yes Sir a real case of the Dum A-- Should have known better about the battery but i didn't have the correct star bit to finish the job. The good news is i think i know a couple BMW shops that i can get do a reset without without visiting the local Mini Dealer who for some reason thinks my Mini is really a 7 Series BMW when he quotes prices
