I have a 2005 S with 50k on it. Was home for 1 week in california when the airbag light came on. I won't be back until june but for now I am looking stuff up. I had called and been told that there was some type of airbag recall for the car, but they want $180 just to see it.......and now they're saying it wasn't a recall, but rather it is just "under warranty"....so it's pretty much 50/50 from there I guess. And they are saying it could be $1,400- 1,600 for the sensor under the seat if it ends up not being the one covered by the recall/warranty???

Also, for the O2 sensors, did anyone know if there was a recall for those? or was it one of the "under warranty" type of things as well. because one of mine went out, and bmw replaced it for free, but not the other one, because it wasn't "acting up"....kind of confused. thanks

 

There is no recall on the 02 sensors, but if it fails warranty will cover it up to 10 years/100K miles. The Service Engine Soon warning would light up and error code recorded. It happened on my '06 at about 60K miles.

I haven't heard of any recall for airbags. The passenger seat sensor fails frequently in these cars and it is not covered beyond the standard new car warranty (4 years/50K miles). Here's a thread on the topic: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ing-light.html
