**Help** Outer Ball Joint Issues
Okay... so I had no issues separating the outer ball joint from the control arm.. however for the life of me I cannot get it off of the other knuckle it was bolted onto. I first tried a flat head and a hammer with no luck. I then bought a 4lb dead blow and a chisel.. still no luck. This is driving me CRAZY it wont separate. Any help is appreciated.
Looking at some diagrams of it, I'd use an air hammer on the bolt-hole-flange edges to rotate the ball joint back and forth until it drops. Take care not to chew up the steering knuckle. No air hammer? Use a large steel drift punch and that big hammer of yours in the same manner. It will probably take a lot of pounding.
Trying to separate the thing with a chisel between the parts would just tilt the ball joint in the steering knuckle and it would bind.

I would press the darn thing out but there seems to be no way to get a press in there.. to tight with the CV joint right there.. I thought about taking the whole steering knuckle off but.. A) I am actually not sure how the JCW brake calipers come off.. (its not the same as stock) and B) removing the CV joint seems like a pain in the but.. I should have some time to play with it later today. I sprayed them with PB Blaster so we will see.
