speaker help

Hi all,
I just had a stock oem speaker blow out in my 04 cooper s. It has 5 ohm written on the back and I am trying to figure out what all my options are. Most people have told me that the minis come stock with 4 ohms or 2 but I don't know if I have a h/k system or not. How can you tell

I have an 03 chili red cooper s with the same problem.
I've been told by my coworker who has an 04 blue MCS with the HK that the speakers are 2ohm. My 03 MSC is not HK and it has 5ohm speakers. I purchased replacement speakers from Mini of South Atlanta and when they arrived, they had 4ohm written on it. The speakers work just fine and I'm happy I took the stock replacement route. It seems most of the adapters for aftermarket speakers have 3 screw holes instead of the 4 that mine has and I didn't want to drill it out.

Awesome thanks muddflapp,
I was really thinking about just going the stock route cause they are nice speakers and just put a small sub ob the back to help equal out the bass. I think that's what blew put in the first place. I too was worried about the screw hole situation so stock seems the best thanks !

If you have HK, it will say so on the speaker grills on the door. You can also look in the right rear compartment in the boot and see if you have an amp.

If you have HK, they are 2 Ohm, if not, they are 4 Ohm.
