What can I say! Looking for advice. Currently own an MR2 roadster and have been looking at the new MINI for the last few days as an additional drivers car. The question is, do I go for the Cooper or stump up the extra cash, wait until around October and get a Cooper S ????????

HELP? I just can`t decide.

sblyth,
Hi,
Welcome to the site.....
I think the answer should be based on what you want out of the car.
The base Cooper is perfectly capable. The S even more so.
I've driven both now.... and I'm going for the S.

Take a test drive. You'll know.
Good luck.

Cheers,

Going to try and get out in a Cooper today. Our dealers in Edinburgh can only give out Cooper S test drives after next Saturday. I am away that weekend Argh!!!

Is there a big difference??

I am now used to the power and feel of my roadster and don`t want to lose the power side. Looking for the Go Kart edge now with more space. I love the look of them both. The S just has that extra exclusive feel.

October delivery if you order now? that seems pretty fast. I just got on my dealers' list for the S and I'm number 200! They say more like 10 months to a year depending on BMW's production increase.

fred,
It largely depends on where your at. I've been told late Nov. at one dealer and mid next year at another. It's really all about demand at the particular dealer.
You can also get a pre-spec very quick if you don't mind going with what's on the car.

My local dealer (Scotthall, Cambridge UK) is talking about May / June 2003 if you order an S now, but Coopers (Reading, UK) reckon Jan / Feb 2003. I think it's a case of how 'big' a dealer yours is!

Ordered June 2001, getting mine late July / August. Can't wait!!!!!
