I'm digging the alternative to squishing cars into the pavement!

This is an extreme classic 4X4:

Love that DSQUARED!

Some of you haven't seen troll activity like I have on Flickr. Usually, someone with an ax to grind does nothing but hurl personal insults just for the heck of it. That's what I like about NAM, civility.

I believe they only did a tiny little strut lift. The tires themselves would actually fit on a stock mini, they just have an aggressive tread.Trust me,I studied that thing like a book when I was researching how to do mine.

Alright thanks for the response. Wouldn't you have to put a litte better suspension to be able to actually go off road? But I'm down for just replacing the struts. It's a whole lot cheaper. And then how do you think they wired the lights? To bad there isnt some specs on this thing.

I'm assuming some softer struts with a little more travel would be best, but I'm just gonna use mine for trail riding anyways so I'll be fine with the whole no sway bar thing.Eventually I'l put on some aftermarket adjustable shocks, but until then I'll work with what I've got .The lights are probably just wired directly into the fog light switch.

Alright. Do you know how long the stock ones are and then would you have to use wheele spacers to flair out the tires a little bit? I want to hook up those lights to some battle switches cuz that would look bad *** lol.And then if you do it soon would you mind posting some picks? Thanks

It's already finished. Here's the link to the thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...i-is-done.html
I don't know what the length of the struts are but all I did was made some spacers that mount in between the strut and the body and used the stock struts and springs. It's a 3" lift in the front and a 1.5" in the rear. The tires are bf goodrich mud terrain 215/75/R15 and I'm using 1.5" wheel spacers.I will say I did have to beat the crap out of the metal inside the wheel well to prevent rubbing.Trust me though,if you take the time to actually do this I promise you that you will love it.

That's exactly what I want! It looks sick!! Great job! What did you make the spacers out of and what would you guess you spent all together? And it says you trimmed the fenders how did you go about doing that. Thanks a ton!

You have no idea how great it feels to hear you say that, thank you.And the spacers were made from a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" plate that I bought off of craigslist for 30 bucks. The tires were the most expensive thing,I had spent around 600 on them. The rims that I bought were for a saab so they had the wrong lug pattern so I had just bought adapters to make them fit.Turns out I needed the wheel spacers anyway so it worked out fine. All together including all of the cutting wheels I had to go through to cut though the metal,I'd say it was around 750-800.You could probably do it cheaper if you go with all terrains because those are a fairly common find on craigslist. From what I've seen, aside from the dsquared red mudder which was barely lifted anyway,I have the first mini like this. And I'm quite proud of that.If I had a plasma cutter or some means to easily make more I would totally sell them.I'm sure there are more people then just us that like the looks and functionality of this.I do feel slightly bad that I butchered the true essence of a mini cooper, which is to be a sporty little car,but someone had to be different right?

You didnt butcher the mini you just gave it a really big pair of huevos rancheros if you know what i mean lmao. I think that mini should create one like this. I want to do this so bad and are you worried that the steel that you cut will rust?

Nah,I painted the lift before I installed it so it'll be fine. And all of the metal that was cut on the car itself will be painted as well.

Once the lift is made it's as simple as compressing the spring, removing the sway bar links, unbolting the 3 13mm bolts the secure the strut to the strut tower, inserting the lift in between, and bolting it all back together with some bolts from the hardware store.Easy peezy lemon squeezy.
