R50/53 Vintage British Icon / New British Icon
My new Mini Cooper is now about two weeks old, and I could not help but share my enthusiasm. It did not take long for me to decide on the British Racing Green with Cordoba beige leather. I wanted to go with the "Classic British Roadster" theme (alá Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley). I am loving it!

While posing the Cooper for a photo, my classic Beezer just had to get in on the action. It's a 1969 BSA Victor Special. I am afraid the old BSA may get a bit lonely as my new Mini will likely get all the upcoming road miles. The motorcycling weather is about done for the year anyhow. Not familiar the BSA marque? Its Birmingham Small Arms, an icon of British Motorcycling. They no longer produce motorcycles, but I think they still make firearms related optics. Come to think of it, I also own a vintage BSA target rifle (Martini lever action, as unique/eccentric as the Mini). I had never considered myself a "britanophile", but maybe that fits?
Getting back to my new Mini... Here in the colonies, I live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Historic Highway 49 and associated twisty mountain roads. Looking forward to bit of a Fall Colors Road Trip next Monday. My county of residence (Sierra) has the distinction of having only one stoplight (a flashing red) and just a few stop signs. Come November, I'll be looking into winter tires... maybe studded? I suspect the Mini will hold the road very well in spite of adverse conditions.
Looking forward to sharing my impressions and enthusiasm!

Welcome to the site! That is a wonderful picture of both of them!
We look forward to hearing your impressions, too! This is a great place to share them! (And especially the part about the enthusiasm.....I dare say the vast majority of the folks on this site are all very enthusiastic, if not completely crazy, about our Minis!)
Cheers!

Oh yeah, BRG & White forever! Great choice, if I do say so m'self. Lovely BSA, too. Now get a Norton and a Royal Enfield, or a Matchless, or mebbe a Brough Superior, and then a 1275S, and you'll be really Brittanisized.
