R50/53 Oil Filter Housing

Oil Filter Housing
Does anyone know if the oil filter housing #11427563763 for R50 cars after 7/04 will fit on an R50 from 7/03 using housing #11427514988. I would like to get rid of the plastic cage and spring.

I'm trying to do the same on my 2002 MINI Cooper. If anyone can recommend an oil filter housing (that doesn't contain the cage) that still works on older MINIs, it'd be greatly appreciated.
