HI, I wa wondering if the transmission goes say at 18,000 miles and they need to replace it..is the new transmission still under the car warrenty or will that one have the 36,000 mile warrnety on it?..I would hate to think that say after 20,000 miles with the new one it would not be covered because the car miles went over the. 36,000 point.Hope I explained myself right.

 

Pretty sure that the answer, unfortunately, is your "hate to think" scenario, except that the warranty is 50,000 miles, not 36. 36,000 is the "free mainenance" period. If your transmission craps out at 51,000 miles, you're SOL.

 

Welcome to NAM marky1. The vehicle Warranty is per VIN, not per part. i.e. if you happened to have a lemon and they warrantied each part - you may have a warranty until 250,000 miles! This is obviously not cost effective for MINI, and generally adds confusion in terms of what would be covered. So, 50k/4year it is for everything, replaced or not.

I dont own one yet.I was just curious about it since I see problems with the cvt transmissions and was curious how they handle it.
