I am looking at a MINI S with John Cooper Works package. Car is solid black with dark tint, really good looking. I have not seen the car except for through the fence at a local shop. Owner is having some work done on it. They guy who told me about the car told me it has a dash plaque on it, carbon fiber dash and used to be red. He said the seats are red and black leather, so I believe I have found a MC40 that has been painted. Car does have 99,000 miles on it, so I am aware of potential problems with supercharger, power steering, etc. BUT, he wants 8,000 for the car and I believe I may can get it for less than that. But assuming I paid 8,000, would that be a reasonable deal on a MC40 with John Cooper Works package. This would not be my daily driver, just something to play with and possibly autocross.

$8K seems like a good price if its not super high mileage and not a "totaled" title car.

I'd be real curious to find out why it got painted.

I would get a CarFax on it. That would tell you it's history, possibly why it was repainted, and if it has a rebuild title.

Ditto on the CarFax.
8K for JCW sounds a little cheap to me.
I would do alot of research on it before you commit to it.
