Jack Kit Location

I just got my (used, from LKQ) car jacking kit - the one in the flat square foam holder. Where does it normally sit inside the car? Under the back seat, maybe? It looks like it's made to fit somewhere where it can lay down, open-faced (there's no lid or cover for it).

Does it just sit right on top of the battery?

No, it should stand up between the battery and the wall of the well that's to the back of the car.

You can just barely see it. But that's not the jack. This is just the case for the tow hook and a couple other things. My jack, factory with the car, is in a black bag the secures to the little rings in the boot.

Thanks guys, but not a chance. This is the large foam holder: 14" X 11" (about 3" thick) and it's open-face, so it probably has to lay down or the stuff would fall out. Looks like half a Craftsman clamshell toolkit where the halves have come apart.

Maybe the R50s, which have the battery under the bonnet, have space under the carpet in the boot for this thing? This might be what the factory gave out with conventional tires. Were RFTs the only option for R50s? (Mine's an R53, BTW, and I have the smaller foam-box toolkit stuffed in beside my boot battery.)

That sounds like the tool kit for the R56 (like mine).

But don't all R56s have RFTs? No jack needed...?

They still have jack kits. Lots of people ditch the run-flats ASAP.
