buying my mini next week, what should i look for "problems" ne indiana

Hey everyone,

I've been searching for a few weeks now for an 05-06 mini s in my area. North east indiana. I havn't had very much luck finding anything in my price range, under 13k. I recently found one at a chicago dealer which is 3 1/2 hrs away. I called up and asked a few questions, sounds like a winner. dark silver color 80k miles, a little higher than i wanted buy i'll deal for the price.. so if my loan gets aproved monday i'm hopeing to drive up there this week with a buddy to take her for a spin. I've driven one here locally that was in great condition, so i know what they should feel and drive like. but what should i look for when i inspect it? all the service records are spot on, and its only had one owner. This forum has allready been invaluable...
thanks, brett g.

Buying Advice

Hey there, I just got my first MCS 4 days ago. I asked the same question on another site and they posted a link that was invaluable to my review of the car and negotiation:

http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53-buyers-guide/

After reading the article, I negotiated to have it checked out by a local Mini dealer. When I looked over the car I found a film of oil on the underside of the engine. It turned out that mine has the oil leaks(s) and I'm looking at around $800 to fix them ($6 part costing $300 to repair - gotta love it). But I knew what it needed before I negotiated the price and had it reduced.

Good luck on your purchase!

Stay away from CVT automatic transmissions # 1. Check for any leaks. Probably needs Front control arm bushings. Make sure transmission shifts well with little or no noise from cold start. I run through tires very quickly.

Have fun. The absolute funnest car I have ever owned!!!!
