stock Vs ram intake temp test

Interesting observation,
I got sick of guessing the temp difference between cold air intake and ram. I managed to get my hands on a laser temp gauge at work and started measuring.

Cold air or ram the air temp is staying the same (bonnet cracked enough to shoot the laser.
Stock filter box was a little hotter and the pipes to throttle body the same.
Ram filter was a little cooler.

The filter and pipe was about 85 F on both, but the hot point was the air intake pipes (between the radiator and engine – go figure – lol). It jumped to 196 F. So I figure it doesn’t make much difference what the temp is coming in if that path is torching the air anyway.

Question is – will heat tape on the main air intake (between the radiator and engine) help keep the air drawn in cooler overall? OPINIONS?

Test info – 15 min drive, ambient temp 60 F, engine running on both tests.

sry for the font junk.

Interesting observation,
I got sick of guessing the temp difference between cold air intake and ram. I managed to get my hands on a laser temp gauge at work and started measuring.

Cold air or ram the air temp is staying the same (bonnet cracked enough to shoot the laser).
