Why not just go without the tire stretch, and get some that fit the car?
I do have to say looking good though.

Mainly for looks I wanted my "daily" wheels to be aggressive. Don't worry though, I'll have some fat sticky tires on proper wheels for spirited driving.

Well I guess thats OK then. You need to figgure though that if you set your suspension around your whimpy turtle tires, it will need to be reset for a set of good track tires or you will nail the plastic in the twisties.

What coilovers are you looking into getting? Custom or off the shelf spring rates? Camber adjustment? Any other suspension mods, or will there be? Sorry for all the question marks, but as you can tell I love proper suspensions, and can help.

All good. I understand that I will have to mess with the suspension if I change the wheels. I also have a good understanding of suspension setups in general. I've had experience with spring rates, corner weighting, suspension geometry and all that with my previous cars. I'm modifying this car for what I want to use it for and competitively tracking the car is not currently planned. Just the occasional spirited driving through twisties. I'm currently looking at Megan's since they have a nice built in camber plate for a very decent price. I'll just stick with an off the shelf spring rate and I already have an Hsport rear sway bar and adjustable rear control arm.

The black VW is actually a stage 2 GTi although I did have a white R32 prior to picking up the MINI. I left it stock though but it's a great car from the factory and really didn't need much to enjoy it.

Purchased a front splitter last week and installed it last Monday. It's been raining here so I have not had a chance to take pics but it finally cleared up nice enough yesterday and today for me to give the car a bath and snap a few shots!

You missed out on a good time in the hills today!

I had a little rocky of a start, with a bad tune, but I got it fixed and cought back up. Don, and Rick had the video rolling.

Your splitter looks great! Glad to hear your car is coming along, it's one of the best looking here IMO. Keep up the good work.

They forecasted rain down here in the springs and ended up finding a lost dog early in the morning. Had to see if I could find his owner but just ended up turning him in to the Humane Society. I'm sure I would've enjoyed the drive but I'm easily side tracked

I was really hoping to see your car but I guess a video will do for now. I'm looking forward to it. Post a link when the upload it!

Thanks for the compliment. The MINI project is still a long way away from completion but I've enjoyed every moment of ownership so far. I'm just really looking forward to moving next month so I can really start tackling the more involved work in a garage.

What are ya doing next Friday night? If my camping trip don't pan out, I might be taking it down to BoosTec to pick up the 64mm (18psi) pulley, and to show it off.

Will do.

What kind of rubber are you going with for the performance tires?

Good eye! I swapped the front end with a Jetta and installed a Reiger front lip. Also behind the grille is a EuroJet FMIC.

The running shoes...

Still debating whether to keep them white or paint them grey like the other set.
