I actually don't think the configurator is available anymore....it said on the site that the download must have been made by the last Wednesday in September.....

Welcome to the site!

Timmerleon,

I can send you the pics (in zipped format) if you give me your address. Either post it here or send me a PM.

Thanks

I would really appreciate someone mailing me a copy of the configurator program, or telling me where I can grab it from. I looked all over and I can't find a pic anywhere of a Cooper S in yellow, with a black roof and bonnet stripes. Oh yeah, my car also has foglamps (forced by the dealer). They will be so much use in the notoriously foggy Las Vegas climate.

Any help would be much appreciated.

ISO files for MINI Config tool....

You can try the above link.... I'm not sure if it still works but it's worth a shot.
The file is huge... so most (if not all) email servers would kick it out. The zipped ISO files are 40+ mb!!

If you get them downloaded you will then need to burn the file to a disk.

Happy Motoring,
SW

The link is still good. I was able to download it in about 10 minutes over my DSL connection. Burning to CD now...

[added]...using Nero, burned to a CD and it works great! what a fantastic tool!

For those of you unfortunate to be using dial-up, leave me a private message, I'll burn and send you a copy, you just need to send me a blank 16x or higher in return, honor system, I'll send you the configurator first.

The reason that you have to burn it to a CD is because it is in ISO format. What this means to you is that whoever made it, took a 'snapshot' of the original disc which then creates the ISO 'image' (compressing the data at the same time). The only way that you can EASILY bring this back is by using Nero or any other CDR software that supports the format to burn the 'image' to a CD. Once the burn is complete, you can then do with it what you want. In fact, once the CD is burned, when you put that disc into your CDROM drive the config. auto starts (or you can copy it to your hard drive for better performance).

I don't think I would want to try to download it in non-ISO format as it takes up 255MB on a CD

You must open the ISO with the burning program. ISO is just a file type that is readable by burning programs. NERO, Roxio and most others will read it. You should be able to read it with a burning program regardless of your O/S...Unix, Linux, Windows, etc...

Cheers

HollyRN,
Hi.... Ok, You may need to burn it again. I actually wasted 3 cd's before I got a good copy. Check to see if you CD Burning software supports image files. It should.... most do. (I'm currently using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4)
The way I got it to work is what follows.

1. Download the zip files.
2. Find the zip file and open it with WinZip.
3. In your WinZip window you will see the ISO Image file. Right (mouse) click on the file. You should see an option..... "Record to CD" Click this.
4. Once the file as been recorded you will then be able to use it like any other software based CD-ROM. When you insert the CD into your computer it should Auto Run.
5. You will need to run the "MINI type Installer.exe" your first time. (If recorded properly this will be included in the contents of the CD ROM.)

NOTE: Some people (myself included) have been unable to view the config tool properly without changing the Visual Settings.

Note: When trying to save these pictures on your computer you may see some odd file types. I currently use "Alle" Works the same as a jpeg file..... So far I've had no problems with it.

Hope this helps.
Happy Motoring,
SW

Hi Holly,

I'd recommend using a burning program called Nero. Awesome.

You need burn a disk from that .ISO Image file.

Since I don't know what program you use to burn with, I'll have to keep the directions fairly vanilla. Look for something that allows you to burn an image file/burn from image/burn from ISO, etc.

If your burner software doesn't support it then you have to either get a friend to do it for you, obtain new burner software, or get a program like WinISO that will allow you to take apart .ISO images. Then you can simply burn those files as you "normally" would.

One last thing; if you're one of 'dem Linux zealots the above is null and void. You're on your own.

I don't know what you have you screen setting on, but the configuator wouldn't work for me until I changed it to 1024x768. That could also be part of the problem.

MINIjewel,
Any idea when they might give us a US version that we can pick up (i.e. A CD-ROM)or order through MINIUSA?
It would be nice to have something US specific.

Sfiveten and all:

Thanks for pointing everyone to the MINI Accessories Configurator. The download only took about 15 minutes on a T1 connection. Your instructions are good. I had the file unzipped and the CD burned with the ISO image file in about another 30 min.

The configurator is cool. The interface is a little clunky but not too bad. Though I cannot create an absolute match to my US 2002 Cooper because the configurator is for the German models, it's pretty close. And, it's kinda cool to see the slight difference in options for that model versus the US. (That folding vinyl top it wild!)

Thanks for the instructions. It's fun.
Motor (and configure) On!

Glad to hear that all of that mess made some sense.
It really is very cool!
If you come up with any cool configs make sure you post them in our "Dream Cars" Gallery.
Glad we could help.

I haven't heard anything about a U.S. version, but if I do, I'll be sure to let everyone know!
