R50/53 Considering a new MINI - HELP!!!
Hello,
I have considered purchasing a new Mini Cooper. I do have some reservations: (1) the nearest dealers to me are in Nashville and Atlanta, if the vehicle breaks down it would be an inconvenience to get it to the dealer, (2) BMW's are wonderful cars, but they always seem to NEED something (adjustment, repair), since BMW builds the MINI do you think it will be the same way?
Are there any options to avoid, has anyone out there had any trouble with their MINI?
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Fletch-- Welcome to NAM!!! What fun you will have exploring
your car choice!!! (For me, it was a BLAST!!!)
You're questions are pretty far reaching. As you look over threads
you will find many opinions on the topics you are adressing.
I drive 3 hours to my nearest dealership and have had my MCS
for more than a year and nearly 36k. Most of have long drives
to our dealerships. It's OK.
God speed.

The MINI like most cars will need some service and possibly a fix or two even early on. I would not let the distance hinder my choice if you really like the MINI. It is a blast to drive and if it is the kind of car for you then go for it. I would suggest spending most of the day in the area of the dealer who you buy the car from or maybe even spending the night and putting some miles on it around Atlanta/Nashville and then if there is anything you need adjusted or such it can be done before you trek back home with the car. Our has been in for a sunroof rattle (easily repaired) and for a body panel replacement that was ordered when we bought the car due to a small scratch. Otherwise our experience has been nothing but good.
