I am in the market for a MINI, and this is the configuration i came up with.
2004 Cooper S
Black/ Body color roof
Premium pack.(3 spoke steering wheel) Cold Weather pack Sport pack.(all season tires)
Rear fog lamps
Black Leatherette seating surface/ alloy patina dash and door bezel surface
Harman Kardon stereo
Aero kit
Driving lamps
White tail lamps and red reflectors
White Bonnet stripes *(On the website it isn't available with the body colored roof, but later on in the options you are allowed to pick it. Is it possible?)
R90 17" Wheels
6 Disc CD player and install kit

This all comes out to $27,988

Any suggestions, comments? I owuld really like any feedback form soem experienced MINI owners before I go through with this buy.

Thanks for looking,
Adam H. (ahirsch@optonline.net)

it may come out to a little more with that package if you intend to
have the dealer paint/install the body kit and your other accessories.

without your driving lights and HK stereo, clear tails, it'll come out to
about $28.8k at the dealer...out the door with install fees, etc.
that's how much mine was until i got the dealer to knock off a grand+
and then some on my trade-in.

it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.

Hi Adam, welcome to NAM
A few suggestions on your config - my take, of course

-I love all Black MCS's, but I think the white stripes will contrast a bit too much
-pass on the leatherette, it's rather low-rent feeling. Either spring for the leather or switch to Space cloth.
-Only get the all-season 17's if you A)don't want to bother getting aftermarket tires AND B)actually drive your MINI in blizzards. The weight they add is a detriment to performance more than they help in snowy weather.
-pass on the rear fogs unless you're a nut for a full toggle row (like me!)
-Personally, the Aero kit with all Black is aesthetically irrelevant. The black spats and grille hide the car even more from public view. Also the rear bumper looks awkward w/out an aftermarket exhuast.
-Pass on the white tailights (especially with the red reflectors!). For a good color balance, keep the red/orange tails, clear tails will diminish character, unless that ultra-monotone is what you're going for.
-Exnay the R90's and use the money for actually lightweight wheels and sticky tires.

So here's my updated version of what I think you should get:
MCS Black/Black, Gravity Black/Alloy patina, #1, #2 (w/Pirelli's), #3, H/K, CD Changer, and Aero Grills. Sound good? Hope that helps (or confuses!)

Cheers,
Ryan

If you go through with the order, can you pls. check order details in the owners lounge? I'm curious whether it tells you if the premium package is 3-spoke or not.

Comments:

1. No Nav?
2. Do you really want H/K or something custom?
3. I like Anthracite, but it's a personal preference thing.
4. I'm not a fan of the aero kit, but personal preference
5. I like the S-lite 17" better than the R90, personal preference
6. I like leatherette -- more so than the cloth (easily stained) or leather (easily worn)...The leatherette will hold up much longer than leather and looks OK IMO. The only downside appears to be that you cannot get the two-tone like Lapis Blue. I think it looks as nice as the leather. Worst case: you do something custom afterward.
7. I would go IPOD w/MFSW kit to allow control from there over 6-disc CD.
8. I hope it doesn't rain much where you live. Blk/Blk will show everything very clearly.
9. I think the driving lights are cool, but haven't used them myself yet.
