Today I saw a ly/b mc at the grocery store that had leather sport seats. However, part of the seat was yellow, much like the blue portions of the lapis blue sport seats. This was a yellow color, not the beige, and no other part of the interior had this color. I thought originally they had the cordoba beige interior. Does anyone know the story of the yellow/black sport seats? I am on a waiting list for a yellow cooper and will be ordering within a month, hopefully and would love this seat color. I can't find it anywhere on MiniUSA. Might this be an aftermarket upgrade? The car is brand new, still with paper plates. I would have left a note on the car, but had nothing to write on to ask the owner personally. Any ideas?

 

Does anyone else seen these seats? I am very interested in finding out if MINI makes them or if they are aftermarket. I should also have mentioned that the seat pattern was also carried to the rear seats. Is this common with the Lapis blue or Cordoba beige also?

 

As far as I know that would be an aftermarket item. There are a lot of vendors that make leather seat covers in custom colors.

 

This is what you want. It's really nice stuff. And you can install it yourself with the tools they provide, or take it to a local auto upholstery installer. I installed it myself on my beetle and it came out great! And saved myself a good $300.
